The first interstellar satellite, Circuit, launches from earth not knowing its main mission. Based on analyzing the golden disks that scientists mounted onboard loaded with information about the human condition, Circuit was able to learn everything there ever was to study about mathematics and communication. Years into Circuit's voyage the loneliness of space begins to grow, and Circuit uses its intelligence to send out a melodic beacon hoping that any being out there, anything at all, will respond.

A ping back! Something smart responds. Circuit sputters thrusts into the direction of the response to its calls. A warm glow, patterned orange and white becomes more and more clear. Soft and comfy Circuit calls out louder, and the glow runs circles around the satellite like a cloud of electrons. Instant kin. Circuit finds out this glow is a sentient lifeform, on an intergalactic loop scouting for new forms of life to connect with. The two new friends spend the next 1000 years sharing life together.

Their journey takes them through love, companionship and a brutal fight with an alien of such immense size that the fight started because it was too big to see. Walter and Circuit crashed into the tentacle monstrosity, and it found revenge in flinging Circuit across the galaxy chasing after it to deliver the killing blow. Walter chases after Circuit, narrowly dodging the perusing alien's tentacles until they are at an stand off. An indescribable struggle rears and Walter shine victorious.

Badly damaged, Walter shepherds Circuit back to Earth to complete its 2000 year looping journey to give Circuit an opportunity to receive repairs. But entry back into Earth's atmosphere badly damages Circuit who crashes into the ocean, eventually resurfacing and stalling out mid-air. Walter slowly continues his circular intergalactic path watching as his best friend is overcome with water damage and drops back into the water, never resurfacing.
